Water Conservation & Clean Drinking Water: Securing Tomorrow, One Drop at a Time

In many parts of India, especially rural regions, water scarcity is not a passing concern it defines daily life. Crops fail, families struggle, and children lose their right to good health. Recognizing this, Bhaishree Foundation placed water conservation and clean drinking water at the heart of its social initiatives. In 2012, when the Jalna district faced severe drought, Bhaishree Foundation took a bold step by initiating the desilting of the Ghanewadi Reservoir, deepening it by nearly 19 feet. Over the last few years, more than 2.25 lakh tractor loads of silt have been removed. This effort not only restored the reservoir’s storage capacity but also gave rise to the Ghanewadi Jal Sanrakshan Samiti, a community-led initiative ensuring long-term sustainability. Thanks to these collective efforts, the people of Jalna now enjoy water availability even during the harsh summer months, a remarkable transformation in a once water-stressed region. For Bhaishree Foundation, every drop conserved is a promise of life, dignity, and hope. Because when water flows, so does prosperity.
